Coronado Public Library, in partnership with the Coronado Island Film Festival, presents FILM FORUM CORONADO, taking place the first and third Wednesday of each month at 6:00 p.m. in the library's Winn Room. Film expert Ralph DeLauro provides a brief introduction to each film and leads a discussion afterwards, often including pointers about how lighting or camera angles contribute to a scene’s mood or propel the story. November 16: The Manchurian Candidate (1962, 126 min) Visionary director John Frankenheimer’s jazzy, daring, delirious, and wickedly satirical political thriller. A U.S. Army sergeant (Laurence Harvey), a POW during the Korean War, is programmed to become a sleeper assassin in a Communist conspiracy. Frank Sinatra is a fellow POW who uncovers the sinister plot. Angela Lansbury gives a bravura performance as the Machiavellian wife of a staunch anti-Communist senator. With Janet Leigh.
